Saudi Arabia recalls 11 Arla protein pudding batches over possible glass contamination
The products covered by the warning come in four flavours: chocolate, hazelnut latte, salted caramel and crème brûlée. They are packaged in sets of six containers, each weighing 200 grams. The SFDA said no reports concerning the affected products had been recorded in Saudi Arabia.
The 11 batch codes are ES26257001, ES26282001, ES26284001, ES26284002, ES26284003, ES26247001, ES26274001, ES26276001, ES26276002, ES26267001 and ES26273001.
People who bought products from these batches should avoid eating them and throw them away immediately. The regulator advised seeking medical care if consumption is followed by pain in the throat or abdomen, nausea or vomiting.
The SFDA is coordinating with Arla to remove the affected batches from sale and is keeping the recall under close supervision. It described voluntary recalls as an internationally established food-safety procedure through which manufacturers remove potentially unsafe goods with regulatory oversight.
The regulator stressed that a voluntary withdrawal does not release a manufacturer from legal responsibility for harm caused by its products. It said its monitoring of food products and enforcement of safety requirements would continue.
Members of the public were also encouraged to notify the authority of suspected food-safety violations by calling its unified contact centre on 19999.
