San Alberto Won the Supreme Holando Championship at Prado

San Alberto won the Supreme Champion title in the Holando section at Prado after its entry first secured the category’s main distinction and then defeated the winner of Holando Selection. Estefan, speaking for the winning team, described the animal as “compact and very convincing”.

Raúl Arrillaga, San Alberto’s technical director, said the result marked the culmination of sustained genetic work. He has been with the breeding operation for 20 years and said that an animal of this quality could not be produced at every show. The competition included cattle from several breeding establishments.

The San Alberto team said the standard of the animals in the ring added significance to its result. Antognazza Hnos. received the Reserve Grand Champion PI award. Pablo, Federico, Gonzalo and Santiago Benítez placed third among the female animals.

El Palenque, owned by Ruben Braga e Hijos of San José, won first place in the Holando Selection category. Its winning cow was four years old. Esteban Braga associated the result with the establishment’s 70-year history and with work carried out by successive generations of the family.

In the male Holando competition, Duilio De León presented the Grand Champion. San Alberto took both the Reserve Grand Champion and Third Best Male awards.

Jersey entries included eight animals. La Rosa Blanca, operated by Bosque Frondoso SRL, presented the Grand Champion Female and Supreme Champion. The winning cow was eight years old and had completed six calvings, which the people responsible for the animal highlighted in connection with its ability to retain productive characteristics over time. Capricornio, owned by Martín Fossali, was the Jersey Grand Champion Male, while Los Kiwis SRL received the Grand Champion Female SJ award.
