According to the Center for Advanced Technology Development (CATD), Russians purchased 67% more kumis in December 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Over the course of the year, total consumption of the traditional fermented dairy drink reached 894,000 liters.

Leading Regions in Sales

The Volga Federal District recorded the highest kumis sales, with residents purchasing 482,700 liters. Significant sales volumes were also observed in the Ural and Central Federal Districts, highlighting growing interest in the drink across the country.

Doubling of Production

Kumis production in Russia doubled in 2024, reaching a record 1.9 million liters.

Future Growth Prospects

Analysts predict continued growth in both production and consumption of kumis. In 2025, production could reach 2.5 million liters, while domestic consumption is expected to rise to 1.2 million liters.

These figures underscore the strengthening position of kumis in the Russian market, driven by the successful integration of modern technologies and regulatory strategies within the food industry.
