Russian Duma Proposes Home Delivery of Dairy Products

The proposal by the deputy suggests organizing the distribution of dairy products not only through distribution points but also via delivery. Tatiana Buzskaya, the Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood Issues and Chairwoman of the 'Mothers' Council', stated this to TASS.

Buzskaya noted that such a format would not require additional staffing while ensuring that large families receive the products they need. According to her, some parents find it difficult to collect all the food boxes from pick-up points. Delivery could also benefit families living in remote areas.

"The proposal to deliver dairy products directly to apartments is a good and practically feasible one," the deputy said. She mentioned that there are already isolated cases of collaboration between dairy point systems and marketplace delivery services.

Another potential participant in this system is 'Russian Post', according to Buzskaya. "Where delivery is possible, it should definitely be utilized," she stated.

However, the parliamentarian emphasized that dairy kitchens are not available in all regions of Russia. She stated that the primary task should be ensuring every Russian family has the legal support they are entitled to. "Home delivery is, of course, top-notch and is exactly how it should be. But we have to ensure that every family in every region gets what they are legally entitled to," Buzskaya noted.

Dairy kitchens are special points where milk and other food products are provided to children under three years old, as well as to pregnant and nursing women. According to Russian health legislation, this social support measure is provided based on doctors’ recommendations and is regulated by regional laws.

Regions independently determine the list and quantity of products. In some cases, monetary compensation is offered instead of food.
