Royal A-ware Moves to Acquire LaBan Foods for Butter Expansion

Royal A-ware is moving to acquire LaBan Foods, which is based in Bodegraven in South Holland. LaBan Foods produces branded and private-label butter specialties, culinary butter compounds and tailored fat formulations.

The proposed integration would place LaBan Foods within Royal A-ware’s wider processing network. The combined business would have LaBan Foods’ specialised manufacturing expertise and butter portfolio alongside Royal A-ware’s existing operations.

Royal A-ware said the enlarged product range would serve customers in retail, foodservice and industrial ingredients. The company described the acquisition as supporting its aim of offering dairy products across multiple categories and stages of the supply chain.

Jan Anker, chairman of the board at Royal A-ware, said the addition of specialised butter manufacturing would support the company’s commercial relationships with retail partners. He also said it would broaden customer choice in domestic and international channels.

For LaBan Foods, joining Royal A-ware would provide access to the resources of a major international dairy group. The company identified greater scale, purchasing capacity and distribution logistics as factors that would support its commercial expansion.

LaBan Foods’ chief executive, René Laban, and managing director, Karel van Driel, said the business would operate under the Royal A-ware umbrella while placing greater emphasis on product innovation. They also said the arrangement would support higher production volumes and access to export markets beyond LaBan Foods’ established domestic business.

The source does not disclose a purchase price, the expected completion date or the transaction’s regulatory status. It identifies the proposed acquisition’s stated scope as the integration of LaBan Foods’ butter-specialty activities into Royal A-ware’s dairy processing network.
