Russians Spend Nearly 6% of Their Expenditure on Dairy Products
Residents of Russia allocate more than 39% of their income to purchasing food, according to Rosstat data, which confirms the high share of food expenses in the consumption structure. Russians spend 5.7% of their income on dairy products, making it one of the largest food expenditure categories after meat products.
In comparison, the expenditure structure for key categories is as follows:

The share of food expenses at about 40% is typical for developing markets and economies with lower disposable incomes. In comparison, in EU countries, this figure usually ranges from 10% to 20%.
