Russia Plans to Enhance Cooperation with APEC in the Agricultural Sector
The Russian delegation at the meeting was led by Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Markovich, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. The forum's representatives discussed the implementation of innovations in agricultural science and production, food security issues, and the development of rural areas.
The Russian ministry identified APEC as one of the key platforms for interaction with Asia-Pacific countries. According to their data, Russia's trade with the economies of the association has shown positive dynamics in recent years.
Digital Technologies in Agriculture
One of the development directions of the Russian agro-industrial complex remains digitalization. Technological solutions are used for tracking grain movement, managing crop and livestock production, conducting agrochemical land surveys, and reducing environmental risks.
The sector is also expanding the use of artificial intelligence and unmanned aerial systems. State information systems allow for the accounting of agricultural lands, checking the quality of seed material, and monitoring crop yields.
Existing digital platforms are planned to be integrated into a unified space for agribusiness. According to the description provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, such infrastructure should simplify data exchange and interaction among industry participants.
APEC Scale
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation was established in 1989 to develop trade, investment, and economic ties in the region. The association includes 21 economies, including Russia, China, the USA, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Australia, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
According to StatsAPEC, APEC economies are home to about 3 billion people, accounting for 36.4% of the world's population. In 2025, they accounted for 61.6% of the world's real GDP of the association's economies. Their merchandise exports amounted to $13.2 trillion, corresponding to 50.1% of the global figure, and imports reached $12.9 trillion, or 48.5% of the global volume. The total external trade turnover of goods exceeded $26 trillion.
