Russian authorities identify 157 veterinary law violations on farms
When applying for animal health certificates, farm operators declared livestock numbers that differed from official records. In one identified case, a veterinarian issued a certificate covering the production of 230 kg of raw milk per day at a private household farm in the region.
According to the certificate, the milk came from two head of cattle. However, no dairy animals were registered for that farm in the Khorriot component of the veterinary information system. Such discrepancies undermine product traceability and pose a threat to veterinary and sanitary safety.
In response to the findings, five warnings were sent to authorized persons through the VetIS.Passport component. Milk collectors and suppliers received 87 formal cautions.
Materials concerning the violations were forwarded to the Volgograd Region Veterinary Committee and the environmental prosecutor's office. These agencies are to take action within their respective powers.
Following its review, the environmental prosecutor's office issued formal notices to veterinary stations requiring them to remedy the violations.
