Russian Agricultural Agency Proposes Stricter Animal Identification in Subsidiary Farms
Sergey Dankvert discussed this topic in an interview with "Agroexpert". The proposal focuses on implementing mandatory control to ensure that animals in personal subsidiary farms are identified.
The head of the agency highlighted that the lack of such control poses risks to biological safety. According to him, unregistered livestock often do not receive vaccinations.
Dankvert believes that the issue should be resolved during the winter-spring session of the new State Duma. "I think we need to conclude this procedure in the new State Duma's winter-spring session because the risks originating from personal subsidiary farms are substantial," he stated.
He emphasized that this issue is particularly significant for regions adjacent to Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and China. In these areas, vaccination is conducted considering Russia's officially assigned international zoo-sanitary statuses.
Additionally, Dankvert noted that the current fines for illegally transporting animals without veterinary documents do not match the level of arising threats. However, he did not provide further details on possible changes in control or sanctions in this interview.
