Uruguay's dairy exports have increased significantly in value over the first quarter, marking a rise of 19% compared to the previous year.
Revenue from Dairy Exports Grows by 19% in Uruguay
Uruguay's revenue from dairy product exports reached $222 million from January to March, a 19% increase year-on-year, as per data released by Inale based on customs statistics.

Export revenues for various products showed mixed results. There was a notable increase in whole milk powder (LPE) by 27% to $148 million, butter by 25% to $17 million, and skim milk powder (LPD) by 11% to $13 million. However, cheese exports declined by 18% to $25 million. In terms of volume, whole milk powder exports rose by 10% to 38,165 tons, and skim milk powder by 10% to 4,335 tons. Conversely, cheese and butter volumes decreased by 19% to 5,034 tons and 2% to 2,649 tons, respectively.

Year-to-date product prices have also increased: LPE by 16% to $4,026 per ton, butter by 28% to $6,493 per ton, LPD by 1% to $3,176 per ton, and cheeses by 1% to $4,983 per ton compared to last year. Comparing March 2025 to December 2024, price increases were reported at 13% for LPD, 10% for LPE, 3% for butter, and 1% for cheese.

Brazil remains the major destination for Uruguay's dairy exports, accounting for 34%, followed by Algeria at 29%, with Chile, Russia, and Mexico each comprising 3%.
