Rainy February Boosts Uruguayan Milk Production

Uruguay's dairy sector has witnessed a resurgence in milk production, driven by favorable weather conditions in February. The increase in rainfall has revitalized the production dynamics, offering a much-needed boost to the industry following a period of stagnation.
Earlier, the industry noted a marked recovery in December with a 3% increase in production. However, the momentum slowed in January due to high temperatures and lack of precipitation affecting major dairy regions. The recent rains have reversed this trend, significantly accelerating production rates.
The cooperative Conaprole reported a notable uptick, with February's milk receipts up by 6.3% compared to the same period last year. Daily milk volumes reached 3.2-3.3 million liters, showcasing the industry's resilience and adaptability.
Despite this growth, long-term projections indicate a mixed outlook. Overall remissions to the country's leading industry have grown at a 3% rate so far in 2025, though there is a 0.9% decline over the last year. As weather patterns continue to influence agricultural outputs, sustained support and strategic planning remain crucial for Uruguay's dairy industry.
