With 148 members and over 30 years of experience, the Ríolac Cooperative processes 12,000 gallons of milk daily in Santo Tomás, producing 19 dairy varieties such as cheese, butter, and dulce de leche.
The cooperative has expanded its export market to El Salvador, Guatemala, the United States, and the Dominican Republic, shipping 97 containers with 25,000 kilos each in 2024. Only 2% of its production is sold locally.
In its commitment to sustainability, Ríolac uses a wastewater treatment system and solar panels, reducing energy costs by 30%, and supporting reforestation efforts with local biodiversity conservation.
