Before receiving the award, Queijaria Meu Propósito sold most of its cheese at local markets and directly to consumers. The business had limited recognition beyond its municipality. After its result in the Prêmio Queijos do Paraná, supermarkets in the region began seeking its products, while customers from other cities contacted the family through social media.

Rosane, the owner, said that the first market held after the result ended with the entire stock sold. She also reported a change in the customer base: buyers from outside the municipality and people with greater purchasing power began showing interest after the cheese received the competition’s Super Gold distinction.

The award was followed by other changes at the property. In May, the family agro-industry obtained certification from Susaf, the state system for sanitary approval of family, artisanal and small-scale agro-industries. The certification allows the sale of products of animal origin throughout Paraná.

Growing demand required the family to expand its facilities, buy equipment and reorganise production. Rosane said the business acquired additional display units, shelves and moulds, and increased output. Each family member now has a defined role, including pasture management and cheesemaking.

Ágide Eduardo Meneguette, president of Sistema FAEP, said Rosane’s experience reflected the purpose of the Prêmio Queijos do Paraná, created in 2022. He said the competition was established to strengthen the milk supply chain, add value to production, encourage quality and create opportunities for rural families. Rosane said the recognition gave her confidence to present the product and showed that a small property could produce high-quality food and develop its own market position.

Entries for the third edition of the Prêmio Queijos do Paraná are open until May 1st 2027. The competition is organised by a committee comprising Sistema FAEP, Sindileite/PR, Sebrae/PR, Senac/PR and IDR/PR. Its stated aims include recognising producers, improving product quality and strengthening Paraná’s cheese identity.

The first edition, held in 2023, attracted 291 entries. The 2025 competition received 477 products, an increase of 64%. Organisers expect about 600 entries in 2027, including roughly 100 participants in a new competition dedicated to Queijo Colonial do Paraná. Judging and technical activities are scheduled for June 2nd and 3rd 2027 at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba, where organisers expect about 1,200 people for lectures, short courses, round-table discussions and cheese tastings.
