Punjab Announces Major Price Cuts on Verka Dairy Products
In an effort to make dairy products more affordable for the population, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced major price reductions on Verka milk and other dairy products. Effective from September 22, 2025, prices of products under the state-backed farmers’ cooperative Milkfed's Verka brand will be slashed. Verka Ghee sees a reduction of ₹30–35 per litre/kilogram, Table Butter by ₹30 per kg, Unsalted Butter by ₹35 per kg, and Processed Cheese by ₹20 per kg. UHT Milk including Standard, Toned & Double Toned varieties will be cheaper by ₹2 per litre, Ice Cream by ₹10 per litre, and Paneer by ₹15 per kg. These cuts align with the Government of India’s GST 2.0 reforms which reduced tariffs on essential dairy items. The initiative is aimed at boosting consumer demand, enhancing tax collections, strengthening the state’s fiscal position, supporting farmers, and providing relief to consumers affected by inflation.
