Promasidor Enhances Nigerian Dairy Sector with Ikun Dairy Farm Investment

Promasidor Nigeria, a key player in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, has made substantial contributions to Nigeria's dairy sector by investing in the Ikun Dairy Farm. Established in partnership with the Ekiti State Government in 2019, the farm initially received a US$5 million operational investment. Subsequent financial injections have expanded its operations, making it the largest dairy farm in Nigeria.

The Ikun Dairy Farm currently hosts over 750 high-yielding cattle, utilizing advanced dairy management systems and artificial insemination techniques to ensure maximum heifer births. This approach supports the sustainable growth of the herd. The farm also plays a vital role in the local economy, providing employment for over 200 local residents and indirectly creating more than 1,000 jobs in surrounding communities.

Promasidor's commitment to sustainable practices is further evidenced by its feed security programme, which involves cultivating over 500 hectares of maize and soya beans to maintain high-quality herd nutrition. Additionally, the company supports educational initiatives through the 'Ikun Milk Day,' distributing fresh milk from the farm to primary school children in the Ikun Community.

According to François Gillet, CEO of Promasidor, the national dairy development programme is integral to the company's strategy to localize raw material sourcing and strengthen Nigeria's dairy ecosystem. Promasidor remains dedicated to delivering nutritious milk products while adhering to global quality standards.

The farm, located in Ikun-Ekiti, Ekiti State, spans over 500 hectares and exemplifies how strategic alignment with national programmes can drive food security, job creation, and industrial growth. Promasidor's brand portfolio, including Cowbell, Loya, and others, reflects its ongoing investment in innovation and quality.
