On June 17, participants of the DairyRally road trip across Azerbaijan will visit key sites of the country's dairy industry: the Zəhmət Ruzi MMC plant (SAB brand), the Milla dairy factory, and the Yalama Aqropark farm. Each of these enterprises represents a unique model of dairy production development — from local traditions to high-tech facilities implementing sustainable practices.
Zəhmət Ruzi MMC (SAB brand): Artisanal Production with Growth Potential
The first stop on the itinerary will be Zəhmət Ruzi MMC, a small yet ambitious dairy plant producing under the SAB brand. With a daily processing capacity of 10 tons of milk, the facility offers ample space and significant potential for modernization.
According to Production Manager Rauf Salmanov, the company plans to expand capacity, introduce new equipment, and reduce manual labor. A new butter churn has already been commissioned. The plant's main pride is its authentic fermented milk drink, GƏNCƏ DOVĞASI, made with rice, chickpeas, and fresh herbs (dill, parsley, bell pepper, and garlic). This traditional product is nearly impossible to reproduce on large-scale industrial lines. Participants will have the opportunity to observe the production process and taste this unique beverage made using traditional methods.
Milla Dairy LLC: An Industrial Flagship with a Sustainable Focus
The second destination will be Milla Dairy LLC, one of Azerbaijan’s largest dairy processing plants, located near Baku. Under the leadership of CEO Azer Vagabzada, the company continues to demonstrate stable growth while actively investing in sustainable development.
Milla offers a wide range of products—fr om UHT milk to ice cream—and is recognized for its advanced technologies, environmentally friendly solutions, and well-developed logistics. Its efficient supply chain and upgraded production facilities help it maintain a leading market position.
The company is also expanding its digital footprint, focusing on e-commerce and reaching new customer segments. The visit will include a guided factory tour and tastings of Milla’s key products.
Yalama Aqropark: A Large-Scale Farm of European Standards
The day will conclude with a visit to Yalama Aqropark, the largest dairy farm in Azerbaijan and one of the largest in Europe. The farm is home to 3,000 head of cattle, including 1,200 Simmental dairy cows, and is equipped with DeLaval milking parlors. The average annual milk yield is 8.5 tons per cow.
Yalama Aqropark is actively investing in further process automation, showcasing a modern approach to raw milk production. The farm supplies milk to Milla and plays a vital role in building the country’s raw material reserves.
