The dairy industry representatives from the United States and Mexico urge their governments to retain free trade and avoid imposing tariffs on the sector.

Representatives from the dairy industries in the United States and Mexico have called on their governments to refrain from imposing tariffs on the sector, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and free trade to boost consumption. At the seventh annual summit of the Alliance for Strengthening the Dairy Production Sector in North America, held in Madison, Wisconsin, the representatives reaffirmed that unity and cooperation under the USMCA framework benefit production chains and contribute to the industry's growth and stability.
"Communicate to our governments our shared strong desire to address issues of mutual interest without introducing bilateral tariffs and/or new trade barriers," the joint declaration reads. They urged the governments to enhance and expedite bilateral dairy trade, ensuring its continuity and growth. Their aim is to boost dairy consumption in both countries, benefiting producers, manufacturers, and consumers in the United States and Mexico. Additionally, they highlighted the need to protect the identity of milk and its derivatives from non-dairy products using their name inappropriately. An open channel of communication among milk and dairy producers' organizations from both countries has been established to reach consensuses benefiting their industries.
