Sales of Moldy Cheese in Russia Increase by 6% in 2025
According to ЦРПТ analytics, the highest consumption of such cheeses per thousand residents was recorded in large urban agglomerations. Saint Petersburg led the way with 134.23 kg per 1,000 people, followed by Moscow (129.35 kg) and the Moscow Region (105.33 kg).
Moldy cheeses are categorized as so-called noble cheeses. They are produced using specially cultivated fungal cultures, which develop the characteristic taste and aromatic properties of the product. Depending on the type of culture used, the mold can have white, blue, red, or green hues.
According to the marking system data, cheeses with white mold were in the greatest demand in 2025. Sales of the "Brie" variety amounted to about 870 thousand kg, and "Camembert" to 405 thousand kg. Among blue mold cheeses, the most popular was the GrandBlu variety, with sales reaching 355 thousand kg.
