Planning applications cover Arla Foods and farm buildings
Recent applications to Ceredigion County Council include proposals for an agricultural structure at Mynachlog Uchaf in Talgarreg, near Llandysul, and a production development at Arla Foods Ingredients in Felinfach, Lampeter.
The agricultural proposal would create a portal-framed building over an existing cattle yard. The covered structure is intended to stop rainwater entering the farm’s manure system and to reduce runoff.
The application states that the work is designed to help the farm meet the requirements of Wales’s Water Resources (Control of Agricultural Pollution) Regulations 2021. It also says that the project would not increase the number of livestock. The Welsh Government has awarded a grant towards part of the construction.
The proposed farm building would be 18.18 metres long and 11.21 metres deep. Its ridge would reach 6.3 metres in height.
Volac International Ltd has submitted the application for the development at the Arla Foods Ingredients site. The plans provide for production space, offices for staff and laboratory accommodation, together with additional storage silos and tanks.
The proposal also includes improvements to the site’s existing drainage arrangements. A new pedestrian bridge would cross the proposed building and the current production areas.
