Edney Murillo Secco, the Grupo Piracanjuba executive responsible for dairy sourcing, said Guaxupé is located in one of Minas Gerais’s main dairy-producing areas. He described the municipality as close to the group’s factories in Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Secco also cited the region’s production capacity, the use of technology on farms and the continuation of dairy activity across generations. “Guaxupé is in one of the most important dairy basins in the state of Minas Gerais, with strong productive potential and proximity to our manufacturing units in Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro,” he said.

He added that farms in the area have a high level of technological development and established systems for family succession. According to Secco, these features support the long-term continuation of dairy production in the region.

The Guaxupé facility receives chilled raw milk from local producers and connects them with transport operators and Piracanjuba’s industrial network. Its activities include handling the raw material before processing and maintaining the quality, safety and traceability requirements set by the company and by law.

“The Grupo Piracanjuba Milk Cooling Station in Guaxupé plays a strategic role for our company because it links regional producers and transporters with our industry,” Secco said. He added that the site ensures the availability, quality and traceability of chilled raw milk through safe, efficient and sustainable operations.

The station’s 22 direct employees work in purchasing, quality control, transport, engineering and maintenance. The group said the structure covers supplier relations, operational controls, logistics and technical support, while also meeting regulatory requirements and providing ongoing service to producers.

More than 170 suppliers contribute to the site’s daily intake of over 230,000 litres. The operation places Guaxupé within the supply chain of a national dairy manufacturer and reflects the region’s reported emphasis on farm technology, professional management and family succession.
