Russia’s Perm Territory agricultural output value rose nearly 40% in five years
According to Bykova’s assessment, the territory maintains a high level of self-sufficiency in staple foods through domestic production. The minister highlighted the figures for eggs and milk in particular.
Over the five-year period, farms of all categories increased milk production from 551,000 to 601,000 tonnes. Dairy farming development accounts for 82% of investment projects in the agro-industrial sector.
According to the figures presented by the minister, fixed capital investment in the agro-industrial sector increased from 4.36 billion to 6 billion rubles.
Bykova identified bringing land back into agricultural use as one of the main drivers of the sector’s growth. The region has a total of 2.6 million hectares of agricultural land, including 650,000 hectares of unused arable land. Plans call for 105,000 hectares to be brought back into use by 2030.
According to the head of the regional ministry, enterprises in Perm Territory’s agro-industrial sector have filled 86% of their staffing requirements.
