Patrushev Orders Russian Regions to Strengthen Veterinary Oversight and Improve Livestock Records
At the meeting, Patrushev identified effective vaccination as one of the main tools for safeguarding animal health. He said it was essential to maintaining a favorable animal disease situation and developing livestock farming in Russia.
The deputy prime minister noted that the country has consistently maintained its position among the world's leading producers of livestock products. Meat self-sufficiency has remained above 100% for several years. In the dairy sector, work continues toward achieving the self-sufficiency level set out in the Food Security Doctrine.
Russian suppliers are expanding the geographical reach of their meat and dairy exports, with more than 100 countries buying these products. In light of expanding shipments, Patrushev identified freedom from animal disease as one of the key factors in developing foreign trade.
The government provides systematic support for the development of Russian vaccines and veterinary medicines. State research centers are developing new products under the national project “Technological Support for Food Security.”
Over the medium term, around 2 billion rubles from the federal budget are planned to be allocated to equipping institutions working in this field.
