Paraná Was Compared with Global Benchmarks in Milk Production

The seminar formed part of the 26th edition of Agroleite 2026, which ended last week with 404 exhibitors. Its programme brought together technical forums and lectures alongside panels, animal judging, machinery demonstrations, the Trilha do Leite and Rota do Leite activities, a dairy competition, cultural presentations and business meetings.

Embrapa’s cooperation with Castrolanda and the Agroleite Technology Park was also highlighted. The partnership is intended to expand research and strategies aimed at increasing production on farms.

“This is a place where dreams are formed and built,” a speaker said. The same speaker added that Brazilian dairy farming had significant potential to become an important global player and described the event as a setting for discussing that future.

The closing session addressed how dairy farming is viewed by society. Richard Rasmussen, a biologist, presenter and environmentalist, delivered the lecture “The Journey of a Biologist in Brazilian Agribusiness”, invited by diamond sponsor Biofarm. He said that direct contact with rural producers, which began about seven years ago, had changed his view of the sector.

Rasmussen described Brazilian farmers as combining advanced technology with the preservation of areas of native vegetation. “Brazilian farmers are among the most technologically advanced in the world and still preserve areas of vegetation. This needs to be recognised,” he said. Referring to Castro, the host city, he added: “Castro is the National Milk Capital. One only has to look at this event to understand the strength of the sector. Agribusiness is responsible for feeding the world, and that deserves recognition.”
