Paraguay Enhances Dairy Chain with Support from Costa Rica and Germany
Paraguay has embarked on a project aimed at bolstering its dairy industry, with significant contributions from Costa Rica and Germany. The initiative, coordinated by Paraguay's Viceministerio de Ganadería, involves a data management platform designed to centralize information and provide tracking tools, particularly for small producers. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the country's dairy sector.
A key outcome of the collaboration is the development of a Manual of Good Practices, resulting from a technical exchange between Paraguay and Costa Rica. This document consolidates experiences related to production, quality, innovation, and sustainability, offering valuable insights for producers, cooperatives, and industries to improve efficiency across the dairy chain.
The project is a joint effort between the public and private sectors in Paraguay. It involves the Viceministerio de Ganadería, the Federación de Cooperativas de la Producción (FECOPROD), the Cámara Paraguaya de Industriales Lácteos (CAPAINLAC), and the Comisión Interinstitucional de Competitividad Láctea (CICLA). From Costa Rica, participants include the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the Dos Pinos cooperative, and the National Chamber of Milk Producers, bringing expertise from a technologically advanced and well-organized model.
Tools developed by the FOCAINLAC initiative aim to consolidate a more competitive, profitable, and sustainable dairy production in Paraguay. They are intended to support the growth of producers, cooperatives, and industries, ultimately improving the positioning of Paraguay's dairy sector in the coming years.
