Olzhas Bektenov appointed new Prime Minister of Kazakhstan

Deputies of the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan agreed on the candidacy of Olzhas Bektenov for the post of Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Olzhas Bektenov appointed new Prime Minister of Kazakhstan

On February 6, the President of Kazakhstan held consultations with the leaders of political parties on the appointment of a new prime minister. He met with the leaders of factions of political parties in the Mazhilis of Parliament. During the meeting, the President announced the need to hold consultations with political leaders on the candidate for the post of Prime Minister in accordance with Article 44 of the Constitution.

Leaders of factions of various parties took part in the discussion: Elnur Beisenbaev from the Amanat party, Maharram Maharramov from the People's Party of Kazakhstan, Azat Peruashev from the Ak Zhol party, Askhat Rakhimzhanov from the National Social Democratic Party, Serik Egizbaev from the Auyl party and Aidarbek Khojanazarov from the “Respublica” party.

Of the deputies present, 69 people voted in favor, 7 abstained, kapital.kz reports.

The Decree, which the president signed, states: “To appoint Olzhas Abayevich Bektenov as Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, releasing him from his previously held position.”

Earlier it was reported that Olzhas Bektenov was proposed to the head of state for the post of prime minister on behalf of the Amanat party.

Olzhas Bektenov was born in 1980 in Almaty. Graduated from the Kazakh State Law Academy with a degree in Lawyer.

In 2002, he began his career as a chief specialist of the department in the Almaty Department of Justice. In 2005-2006, he worked as an expert, chief expert of the Legal Department of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2006 to 2009 he worked in the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2009 to 2012, he was Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Registration Service and Legal Assistance of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2012-2014, he served as head of a department in the central office of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Combating Economic and Corruption Crime (financial police).

In 2015-2016 – Head of the Administration of the Akim of Astana, Head of the Secretariat of the Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2016-2017, he was the head of the Department of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (anti-corruption service) in Astana. From 2017 to 2018 he worked as deputy akim of Akmola region. From 2018 to 2019 - Deputy Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption. From 2019 to 2022 - First Deputy Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From February 2022 to April 2023 – Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On April 3, 2023, by Decree of the Head of Kazakhstan, he was appointed Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Awarded the orders “Aibyn”, 2nd degree (2014), “Dank”, 2nd degree (2021).
