The government has laid the foundation for a new Central Veterinary Hospital in Srinagar, estimated at Rs 11.91 crore. This initiative aims to enhance veterinary services for livestock and dairy farmers in Jammu and Kashmir.
New Veterinary Hospital in Srinagar to Boost Dairy Sector Support

The foundation stone for the Central Veterinary Hospital at Athwajan, Srinagar was laid by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, marking a significant development in the veterinary infrastructure of Jammu and Kashmir. The hospital, to be constructed with an estimated budget of Rs 11.91 crore, aims to provide state-of-the-art facilities for veterinary treatment, diagnostics, and animal welfare.

The project is being executed by the Public Works (R&B) Department and is designed to meet the growing needs of livestock owners and dairy farmers in the region. The new facility is expected to offer modern veterinary services, disease control measures, and emergency care under one roof.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the livestock and dairy sectors, which are crucial to the rural economy. He was accompanied by Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister, and Ahsan Pardesi, MLA Lal Chowk, along with officials from the Agriculture Production Department and the Public Works (R&B) Department.

The establishment of this hospital is considered a significant step towards enhancing the infrastructure for livestock farming, providing essential services that could greatly benefit the local dairy industry.
