Nestlé India commits to a $600 million expansion with a new factory in Odisha, enhancing its footprint in the Indian food processing sector.

Nestlé India has taken a significant step forward by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) at the World Food India Summit 2025. This agreement aims to accelerate Nestlé's ambitious ₹5,000 crore ($600 million) expansion plan through both greenfield (new factory) and brownfield (existing site) projects.
A primary focus of this endeavor is the establishment of Nestlé's tenth factory in Odisha, expanding the company's supply chain and production capabilities into Eastern India. This new facility underscores Nestlé's strategy to bolster market presence by enhancing local production to meet the diverse needs of the Indian market. These initiatives are well-aligned with India’s 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' mission, focusing on fostering robust and sustainable food systems.
Manish Tiwary, Chairman and MD of Nestlé India, emphasized the linking of these investments to economic progress by creating new infrastructure and increasing the company's operational capacities. Moreover, this expansion is expected to have a widespread socioeconomic impact, providing numerous direct and indirect employment opportunities. It will foster the existing relationships with over 100,000 farmers, strengthening the supply chain from farm to factory.
With a 113-year presence in India, Nestlé serves 5.2 million retail outlets via 10,000 distributors. The new investments are poised to integrate with the company's expansive brand portfolio and infrastructure, cementing Nestlé as a major player in India’s food and beverage industry.
