Nature: Scientists have found anti-cancer components in butter and beef

A study published in the respected scientific journal Nature found that trans-vaccenic fatty acid, found in animal products such as beef, lamb and dairy products, helps improve the function of human immune cells in their fight against cancer.

As part of the study, biologists analyzed data on metabolites entering the human body with food. Particular attention was paid to substances that could activate the immune system's CD8+ T cells, which are critical for killing cancer cells. Among the metabolites studied, trans-vaccenic acid, found in breast milk, stood out. Experiments on mice have shown that a diet enriched with this substance significantly slows the growth of skin and colon cancers.

In addition, the scientists analyzed the blood of patients undergoing treatment for lymphoma using CAR-T cell immunotherapy. It turned out that high levels of trans-vaccenic acid in the blood correlate with a more successful response to therapy. This discovery provides new prospects for the use of trans-vaccenic acid as a potential dietary supplement to promote the effectiveness of immunotherapy in cancer, although more research is required to draw definitive conclusions.
