Mundella’s New Owner Plans to Upgrade Equipment at Its Western Australian Plant
MMRD Holdings Managing Director Kevin Sorgiovanni aims to restore production for the local market and later expand sales to other parts of Australia and overseas. According to the company, MMRD Holdings is part of Artisanal Market.
Ian Noakes, president of the WA Farmers Dairy Council, welcomed the sale but pointed to the challenge of securing a milk supply: much of Western Australia’s milk is already committed to other processors under contract. Farmers hope the brands’ return will increase competition for local milk. According to Countryman, the companies owed more than A$16 million when administrators were appointed in June 2025.
DairyNews.today previously reported on the acquisition of the Mundella Foods and Margaret River Dairy Company brands and production assets. At the time, the new owner said it expected to resume yogurt production in Metricup before Christmas and did not plan to use Mundella’s former plant in Mundijong for production.
