Minimum Price for Raw Milk in Ecuador Set to Change in June

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) of Ecuador has announced that from June 1st, a new minimum support price for a liter of raw milk will come into effect. The price has been set at $0.5043 per liter.
This price is established under certain parameters that include a fat content of 3%, a protein content of 2.9%, and a colony-forming unit (CFU) count of 158,000 CFU/ml.
The pricing decision is based on the Organic Law for the Promotion of Production, Marketing, Industrialization, Consumption, and Pricing of Milk and its Derivatives, along with its regulation and the Interministerial Agreement 024 agreed upon by the Ministries of Agriculture and Production.
The announcement underscores that the payment for raw milk at farms incorporates factors related to compositional quality, hygienic quality, and sanitary quality as stipulated in Agreement 024.
This move is aimed at supporting the dairy industry while ensuring fair pricing mechanisms aligned with quality standards.
