Milky Mist reports an 829% rise in quarterly profit

Milky Mist Dairy Food’s net profit reached ₹65 crore in the first quarter of FY2026-27, compared with ₹7 crore in the same period a year earlier. The company reported a 43.6% increase in revenue from operations, to ₹973.45 crore from ₹678.1 crore.

EBITDA rose to ₹143.8 crore from ₹81.3 crore, an annual increase of 77%. The EBITDA margin was 15%, up from 12% in the corresponding quarter. The company attributed the improvement in profitability to higher volumes, a different product mix, its ability to implement pricing and operational efficiencies.

Paneer remained Milky Mist’s largest source of revenue, with sales 34% higher than a year earlier. Cheese revenue increased by 38%, while curd revenue rose by 27%. Yogurt recorded the strongest growth among the listed categories, with revenue up 153%, and ice-cream revenue increased by 60%.

The company said its summer-oriented products performed particularly well in southern India. It linked the performance of chilled and frozen dairy products to an extended summer season. Milky Mist also cited new product variants, process and product innovation, deeper market penetration and expansion in existing and new geographies as contributors to growth.

During the quarter, Milky Mist commissioned a Cheddar cheese plant with installed capacity of 120 metric tonnes a day. The facility forms part of the company’s investment in manufacturing capacity and is intended to support cheese production and its wider range of value-added products.

Dr K Rathnam, Milky Mist Dairy Food’s whole-time director and chief executive, said the company would focus on profitable growth during FY27 through portfolio expansion, operating discipline and investment in manufacturing and distribution. The company plans to add value-added food products, strengthen its brands and distribution network, and expand its presence across markets while maintaining financial discipline and operational efficiency.

Milky Mist is also expanding its distribution network and brand presence in the value-added food and fast-moving consumer-goods segment. Its first-quarter figures included revenue of ₹973.45 crore, EBITDA of ₹143.8 crore, a 15% EBITDA margin and Cheddar cheese capacity of 120 metric tonnes per day.
