Bovaer has demonstrated its efficacy in reducing methane emissions by approximately 30% in dairy cattle and 45% in beef feedlot cattle. This breakthrough aligns with Japan’s commitment to the ‘Global Methane Pledge,’ which targets a 30% reduction in methane emissions by 2030. Given that over 80% of Japan’s methane emissions stem from agriculture, the introduction of Bovaer presents a crucial opportunity to address environmental concerns using a scientifically supported method.

Mark van Nieuwland, Vice President of Bovaer at DSM-Firmenich, expressed enthusiasm about bringing this technology to Asia, particularly through collaboration with Meiji. “We are eager to begin the groundwork as we anticipate local market authorization to integrate Bovaer into the Japanese dairy sector, especially within Meiji’s supply chain,” he said.

Bovaer is already commercially available in 58 countries, including regions in Europe, North America, and Latin America, marking a significant advancement in global efforts to reduce livestock-generated methane and promoting more eco-friendly agricultural practices.
