Maola Local Dairies, a cherished subsidiary of the Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association (MDVA), has recently acquired a dairy processing facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, previously owned by HP Hood.
This strategic move not only underscores MDVA's commitment to expanding its footprint but also signifies a significant opportunity to introduce sustainable dairy products into the Pennsylvania market. The announcement was made during a press conference attended by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, emphasizing the cooperative's dedication to bolstering the state's economy and workforce.
MDVA CEO Jay Bryant expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “With 80% of our family-owned farms located in Pennsylvania, it only made sense for us to extend our processing capabilities within the state. We are delighted to integrate this Philadelphia-based plant into our operations, opening up avenues to diversify our product offerings and connect with more consumers seeking Maola Milk – the quintessential local and sustainable choice for milk along the east coast.”
Operating as Maola Philadelphia, this ultra-pasteurized facility is committed to upholding standards of quality, customer service, and sustainability. Equipped with a dedicated team, the plant specializes in producing a range of dairy products, including regular and flavored milks, creams, half & half, eggnog, and ice cream mixes. Its versatile packaging options cater to diverse consumer preferences, from gable top containers to portion control cups and 2.5-gallon bags.
