Malaysia Begins Bulk Fresh Milk Exports to Singapore, Marking a Dairy Milestone
Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&NHB) has launched Malaysia's first bulk fresh milk export to Singapore from its F&N AgriValley in Gemas. This significant development marks a new chapter in Malaysia's dairy industry by showcasing its capacity for large-scale dairy farming. The commencement ceremony was attended by key figures from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, including secretary general Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, and other important officials.
The inaugural shipment involved two specialized trucks carrying a total of 40,000 litres of fresh milk. This milk is transported to Singapore within hours, ensuring it reaches F&N Foods Pte Ltd (F&NF) for processing and packaging within 24 hours of milking. Such efficiency underscores the focus on maintaining quality and freshness for Singaporean consumers.
The F&N AgriValley farm employs advanced technologies for cattle welfare, such as freestall barns with intelligent environmental control systems. The milk production process utilizes rotary milk parlours and a closed system for hygiene, ensuring compliance with the Singapore Food Agency's standards.
F&NHB's director Raffiq Md Ariff noted the company's commitment to supporting Malaysia's food self-sufficiency goals and becoming a net exporter of fresh milk. Prior to this, F&NHB had been exporting Bear Brand Sterilised Milk to Cambodia, highlighting the company's expanding international market presence.
The Ministry of Agriculture and related agencies have been instrumental in this project, providing regulatory support and ensuring export readiness. The Department of Veterinary Services and MAQIS have facilitated cattle management and health protocols to meet international standards.
