Loretto Dairy Farm Secures $54K for Safety Upgrade
Sheldon Creek Dairy, a notable dairy farm in Loretto, Ontario, has successfully secured significant funding of up to $54,290.94. This investment is earmarked for the development of an advanced food safety and traceability system, which includes the acquisition of new equipment, software, staffing, and crucial third-party certification services. The funding is part of the Food Safety and Growth Initiative, which benefits from a $4.4 million investment from the Canadian and Ontario governments through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP).

This initiative aims to empower small businesses in the agriculture sector to enhance their food safety systems and foster economic growth. As stated by Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson, the fund aids food processors and producers in meeting new industry standards by adopting advanced equipment and technologies. For Sheldon Creek Dairy, this financial support is instrumental in meeting evolving market demands, ensuring further expansion and competitiveness in the dairy market. Ontario’s Agriculture Minister, Trevor Jones, emphasized the importance of continuous investment in the province's world-class food product standards to increase and diversify exports, thereby strengthening the agri-food supply chain through the Grow Ontario Strategy.
