Lakeland Dairies has announced an upward adjustment to its March milk price, including the introduction of an input support payment, reflecting its commitment to supporting dairy farmers amid ongoing challenges.

For milk supplied in the Republic of Ireland, Lakeland Dairies has set a base price of 41.9c/L, with an additional 0.5c/L Sustainability Incentive Payment. Moreover, a separate 1c/L Input Support Payment has been introduced, bringing the all-in base price for ROI suppliers to 42.9c/L.

In Northern Ireland, the base price for March milk stands at 34.5p/L, including a 0.5p/L Sustainability Incentive Payment. Additionally, an Input Support Payment of 0.8p/L has been implemented, resulting in an all-in price of 35.3p/L for NI suppliers.

Recognizing the impact of adverse weather conditions on farmers, Lakeland Dairies has enhanced its support measures. The feed rebate scheme has been raised from €20/t to €30/t and from £20/t to £30/t, with an additional €10/t and £10/t support for straights to aid farmers in managing silage stocks.

Amidst stable commodity prices and cautious market demand, Lakeland Dairies remains committed to assisting farmers through challenging times. The introduction of the Input Support Payment underscores this commitment, reflecting the processor's dedication to sustaining farm families and businesses.

In related news, Ornua's Purchase Price Index (PPI) for March has seen a slight increase to 132.3 points, translating to an indicative return of 37.6c/L for milk at 3.5% fat and 3.3% protein. This increment reflects improved market returns observed throughout March, demonstrating Ornua's ongoing efforts to deliver competitive prices to dairy farmers.
