Lactalis Canada Recalls Milk Due to Vitamin Over-fortification

Lactalis Canada has initiated a voluntary recall of a specific batch of its Lactantia UltraPūr two percent milk due to over-fortification of Vitamin A and D. This recall was prompted by concerns that the levels of these vitamins exceed the recommended daily intake, posing a potential food safety risk.

The recall affects products sold exclusively at Costco, with an expiration date of June 22. Consumers have been advised not to consume the affected milk and to consult a doctor if they have any health concerns or symptoms.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which might lead to additional recalls if necessary. As of now, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of the product.

Lactalis Canada emphasized that the recall is limited to the specified product and lot sold at Costco, and does not impact Lactantia UltraPūr 2% M.F. dairy beverages from other retailers, nor any other Lactantia UltraPūr products.

This recall was initiated on June 5, according to a statement from Lactalis Canada. The company reassures consumers that they are taking necessary measures to ensure product safety.
