French dairy giant Lactalis is set to invest $55.3 million in its Brazilian operations, enhancing production in Paraná state.

Lactalis, the renowned dairy corporation, plans to bolster its presence in Brazil with a substantial investment of 313 million reais ($55.3 million) in the state of Paraná. This initiative marks a significant milestone as Lactalis celebrates a decade of operations in Brazil, aiming to reinforce its authoritative role in the nation's dairy market.
The capital will be allocated towards establishing a new UHT milk production line at the Londrina facility and expanding the Carambeí plant to enhance the production of yogurts, fermented milk, dairy beverages, and desserts. The projects, agreed upon with the Paraná state government, were ceremonially acknowledged on 18 March in Curitiba, attended by high-profile officials including Governor Ratinho Júnior.
In the last ten years, the company has infused over 710 million reais into Paraná's economy. Beyond Brazil, Lactalis continues its expansion across South America, recently announcing the acquisition of Uruguay-based Granja Pocha to escalate its cheese and yogurt production under the Colonial brand.
While further job creation details weren't specified, the projects are slated for completion by December. This advancement coincides with other significant investments in regions like Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul, cumulatively demonstrating Lactalis's commitment to regional economic development and technological upgrades.
