Lactalis to Acquire BMI Dairy Assets, Expands Presence in Southern Germany

French dairy giant Lactalis has announced an agreement to acquire the dairy assets and brands of Bayerische Milchindustrie eG (BMI).
This strategic acquisition includes BMI’s operations in fresh milk, yogurt, quark, cream, and ayran, along with its production site located in Würzburg, Bavaria.
As part of the deal, Lactalis Germany will integrate 180 employees from BMI. The acquisition also encompasses several well-known regional brands from southern Germany, such as Frankenland, Thüringer Land, and the ethnic brand Haydi.
This move will enable Lactalis to strengthen and establish long-term relationships with dairy producers in southern Germany, enhancing its footprint in the region.
The transaction is currently pending approval from the German and Austrian antitrust authorities.
