La Caprolecoba seeks better milk prices for producers

The Argentine Chamber of Milk Producers, Caprolecoba, is actively pushing for a revision in the compensation farmers receive for milk. "It's time for industries to start improving prices, which have been decreasing in real terms," they emphasized. Currently, they see an opportune moment with firm domestic and global demand, alongside a realignment of wholesale prices.
The organization highlighted a rebound in the local milk market, with internal sales jumping by 11% after a previous drop of 19% in the first quarter of 2024. Coinciding with this are favorable conditions for milk production due to ample moisture and quality pastures. As of March, production was up 15.9% compared to the previous year, with an anticipated 5-6% increase by the end of 2025.
Caprolecoba remains vigilant, acknowledging the primary milk sector's improved stance as opposed to several years ago, but expressing concern over the industry's reluctance to enhance prices clearly. They believe conditions are ripe to start doing so.
Forecasts by the organization suggest continued growth, attributing success to the current agro-climatic neutrality and a solid price relationship with grains, which sustains strong production growth and enhances market confidence.
