Arman Shakkaliev noted that there is high demand for a number of goods from Chinese companies and our entrepreneurs planning to export to China.

“We held meetings with many Chinese companies that have already been to Kazakhstan more than once and are ready to purchase Kazakh meat: beef, lamb, chicken and offal. Negotiations are underway on investment cooperation, large Chinese companies are ready to invest huge amounts of money for meat production in Kazakhstan with the aim of further exporting to the Chinese market. But to create the necessary conditions, we need to lift the existing restrictions and resume the export of meat products,” said Arman Shakkaliev.

The department's statement notes that the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China is ready to visit Kazakhstan to assess the veterinary service of Kazakhstan for the control of foot-and-mouth disease and avian influenza. “We are also ready to begin work on harmonizing requirements for the export of chilled meat products, thermally processed meat products, poultry meat and by-products, edible eggs, horse meat and other types of goods,” the head of the Ministry of Trade of Kazakhstan spoke during the meeting.

During the negotiations, it was possible to reach an agreement to remove barriers to mutual trade. The General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China has expressed its readiness to lift existing restrictions on the supply of thermally processed meat products from Kazakhstan.

Kazakh camel milk is in great demand on the Chinese market. The Chinese consumer already knows the taste and quality of this product. Kazakhstan has great potential for exporting mare's milk. However, in China it is necessary to develop an appropriate national standard for supplying these products to the market, which was also noted during the negotiations.

Another important export direction is crop products. “We are also ready to increase exports of oat flakes, beet pulp, potatoes, oat flakes and cereals, sunflower seed meal, safflower,” said Arman Shakkaliev.

The Chinese side informed about the completion of the risk assessment for avian influenza and foot-and-mouth disease, the Kazakh department reported.

As a result of the meeting, agreements were reached on the visit of the Chinese delegation to assess the veterinary service of Kazakhstan this year; for this purpose, the visit program will be agreed upon in the near future. Following the visit, the Chinese side is ready to lift the restriction and move on to discussing the export of livestock products. In addition, the Chinese side agrees to simultaneously begin work on harmonizing veterinary requirements for thermally processed beef, lamb and poultry meat.
