Ken Ward, DeLaval: In China, the Top 30 Dairy Companies Produce 46% of Commercial Milk
The expert noted that since the melamine crisis of 2008, China's dairy industry has grown significantly. As of the end of 2022, the top 30 dairy companies in China own 1.24 million Holstein cows, which represents 40% of the total number of cows in the country, and produce 46% of all the commercial raw milk, across a total of 524 farms, with an average of 2,368 cows per farm.

"At the moment, there are 420 DeLaval rotaries installed in China. Approximately 62% of the high-yielding dairy cattle are milked using DeLaval equipment. About 50% of the business in China is related to post-sale equipment, supported by service centers throughout the country," said Ken Ward.
