Kazakhstan is expanding its food exports to China: soon, the first shipments of kumys, shubat, honey, and domestic confectionery products will appear on the shelves of the China Coop network, which unites over 340,000 stores across the country. The annual turnover of the association exceeds 7 trillion yuan.

The agreement between the National Association of Cooperatives of Kazakhstan (NACOFEC) and the All-China Federation of Cooperatives China Coop was one of the key outcomes of the Kazakh delegation's participation in the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

"Entering the Chinese market through cooperation will allow domestic companies to establish a long-term presence there. Joint marketing research has already been conducted, trial deliveries organized, and priority categories determined — flour, oils, meat, honey, dairy drinks, and confectionery products," noted QazTrade General Director Aitmukhamed Aldazharov.

During the exhibition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between QazTrade and the Chinese company Optimize Integration Group (Shenzhen). The document provides for the development of digital trade, the creation of online platforms and logistical tools to promote Kazakhstani goods in China.

The parties agreed to jointly promote Kazakhstani producers' products, develop modern technologies, and improve settlement conditions.

In 2025, more than 100 Kazakhstani producers are participating in the CIIE — a record in the country's participation history. Kazakhstan is represented at four locations, including the national pavilion, the China Co-Op zone, the Jiangsu SOHO stand, and a separate pavilion of the city of Almaty.

Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliev noted that Kazakhstan is developing its exports based on the principle of regionalization: "Pavilions, trading houses, and representations are opening in different provinces of China. Offices in Urumqi and Nanjing are already operational, and agreements have been reached to expand the geographical presence of Kazakhstani companies following the exhibition."

Over the past five years, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China has almost doubled, reaching $30.2 billion in 2024. The total volume of contracts signed as part of Kazakhstani companies' participation in the CIIE exceeded $306.5 million, including agreements for the supply of fat-and-oil products, meat, vegetable oils, dried camel milk, juices, and purees.

This year, new long-term export contracts with China, as well as with Southeast Asian and Persian Gulf countries, are expected to be signed.
