Kazakhstan Attracts Chinese Investments in the Agro-Industrial Sector

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Shanghai on a working visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. In his speech, he emphasized the aspiration to develop Kazakhstan as a leading agro-industrial hub in Central Asia. He noted that in order to be competitive in agriculture, it is important to use artificial intelligence and digital technologies.

Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan has been harvesting 27 million tons of grain for two consecutive years thanks to modern technologies. The country has over 200 agro-industrial enterprises operating on the "smart farm" principle, and another 650 farms are implementing digital solutions. A national digital tracking system for agricultural products is also being developed.

Chinese companies are invited to participate in these initiatives. Last year, the volume of bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and China reached 49 billion dollars, and Chinese investments in Kazakhstan's economy exceeded 30 billion dollars. More than 8,500 enterprises with Chinese capital operate in Kazakhstan, including major companies such as CNPC, CITIC, and Huawei.

Together with Chinese companies, Kazakhstan is implementing strategic projects, including the construction of a gas-chemical complex with Sinopec and a corn processing plant with Fufeng Group. The President noted that Kazakhstan should become a major transport and logistics hub connecting China with Central Asia and Europe.

Tokayev emphasized the importance of digital logistics and the creation of a unified digital ecosystem for international cargo transportation. The main project in this area is the Smart Cargo platform, which integrates customs and logistics services into a common digital environment.

The President expressed hope that Kazakhstan and China could establish new global standards in international trade and invited Chinese companies to participate in this initiative.
