Kazakhstan Plans to Increase Exports to Austria by $637.5 Million

This announcement was made following a meeting in Astana between Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration Aidar Abil'dabekov and the Austrian delegation led by Markus Hofer, head of the parliamentary friendship group 'Kazakhstan-Austria'.

The greatest opportunities are associated with high-value-added goods. The potential increase in the supply of metallurgical products is estimated at $326.6 million, petrochemical products at $139.6 million, and food industry products at nearly $97 million.

"For us, it's important not just to increase trade volume, but to expand the presence of Kazakh products in the European market. We see specific product categories and companies that can already work in this direction today," said Aidar Abil'dabekov.

Markus Hofer expressed Austria's interest in purchasing vegetable oil from Kazakhstan. The meeting also discussed grain processing, production of grain-based products, and projects in artificial intelligence.

Participants paid particular attention to transportation links. Kazakhstan and Austria aim to increase rail and Caspian freight transport and improve Middle Corridor infrastructure. They also discussed cooperation in the agro-industrial complex: Kazakhstan is ready to expand the supply of grain, flour, meat, poultry, fish, honey, flax seeds, and organic products.

Furthermore, the sides considered joint projects for the deep processing of metallurgical and mineral raw materials. During the first seven months of 2026, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Austria amounted to $159.9 million. Kazakh exports during this period increased 2.4 times, reaching $7.64 million.
