Kazakhstan May Increase Involvement in Eurasian Economic Union Industrial Projects

Minister of Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Gohar Barseghyan, shared priorities for industrial cooperation. Her speech took place at the international forum "BIOPROM: Industry and Technologies for People," held from October 5-6 in Gelendzhik.

During the plenary session on the ecosystem of high-quality living, Barseghyan discussed the interaction of enterprises from five EAEU states, the development of modern productions, and the strengthening of technological competencies. According to her, sustainable industrial cooperation should facilitate production growth, the creation of new production chains, and the release of competitive products.

In this model, different stages of production can be undertaken by enterprises from several countries. One enterprise can supply components, another can handle processing or assembly, while a third provides technological solutions. For Kazakhstan, this means an opportunity for national companies to participate in joint productions, but the list of such companies and specific agreements following the forum were not disclosed.

Separate negotiations focused on high-tech industries. Barseghyan participated in a business breakfast with the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, and representatives of Russian businesses. Participants discussed industrial development, technological interaction, and the expansion of cooperative ties between companies.

The Minister also stated the need to improve support tools for joint projects and actively involve businesses from EAEU countries. The commission's announcement did not specify new funding volumes, timelines for additional measures, or a list of enterprises eligible for support. Implementing such initiatives requires agreement on investments, production processes, and commercial terms.

The forum's program included biotechnology and bioeconomy, medicine and pharmaceuticals, the food industry, cosmetics, and the agro-industrial complex. For Kazakhstan, cooperation in agro-industrial complexes and processing is of particular importance, but the participation of Kazakh enterprises in specific initiatives discussed has not been confirmed.

It was previously reported that eight joint industrial projects have already been launched in the EAEU. The overall portfolio includes 23 initiatives with investments of approximately 30 billion rubles, with areas cited including mechanical engineering, microelectronics, railway infrastructure, and construction materials production.
