Kazakhstan's "Shin-Line" Rises to 36th Place in the Global Ice Cream Manufacturers Ranking

The top ten in the global ranking of ice cream manufacturers include companies from the UK, Switzerland, the USA, and South Korea. Consistent leaders among these companies are giants such as Mars, Unilever, Nestle, and others.

The multinational company Unilever Group holds the first place in the ranking with a revenue of $16,574 million in 2022 and $17,526 million in 2023. Nestle + Froneri are in second place with $8,296 million in 2022 and $8,555 million in 2023.

According to the consulting company Streda Consulting, in 2023, "Shin-Line" also rose from 8th to 6th place in the ranking of top ice cream producers in the EAEU countries. Over several years, "Shin-Line" has significantly improved its position compared to 2022.

The "Shin-Line" group of companies demonstrated significant export growth over the year, being the main supplier of Kazakhstani ice cream to foreign markets. The company's products are now exported to China, Russia, Belarus, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Compared to the same period last year, exports in 2023 increased as follows: to Russia by 123%, to China by 115%, to Kyrgyzstan by 59%, to Turkmenistan by 44%, and to Uzbekistan by 37%. In terms of exports to Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and China, "Shin-Line" surpasses any leading Russian ice cream manufacturer actively exporting to these countries.

For the first four months of 2024, the leading brand of the company is "Bomba" with 1,646 tons, with the highest sales growth noted for "Bahroma" at 74%, followed by "Bomba" and natural juice fruit ice at 18%. Among formats, the cone and ice cream bar remain leaders, but "Horn" showed growth at 21%.

"The growth in ice cream consumption will continue if the current trend of product popularity persists, positively influenced by the introduction of new, unusual, and sophisticated types of ice cream to the market. This is exactly what we at 'Shin-Line' are focusing on today, actively investing in production. Producing new types of products is possible only through technological innovations and improved quality standards, which our specialists are actively working on," said Dmitry Dokin. "Examples of new products in recent years include category leaders such as the natural cream ice cream 'Mishka na polyuse,' the cream ice cream with an eastern flair 'Bahroma,' and the 'Golden Collection' - desserts combining ice cream and confectionery."

The positions of Kazakhstani ice cream in foreign markets, domestic ice cream producers in global rankings, and trends for 2024 were discussed on May 14 in Almaty during the annual press breakfast with Dmitry Dokin, chairman of the board of directors of "Shin-Line" and ice cream market expert.
