Turkey is one of the five largest trading partners of Kazakhstan and the top 20 investor countries. Kazakhstan intends to increase exports of products to Turkey for 34 types of goods totaling more than $ 630 million, The DairyNews reports with reference to the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
During his visit to Ankara, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov was received by the head of the Turkish Republic, held talks with the Vice President of Turkey, discussed investment cooperation at a meeting with representatives of major Turkish companies and holdings, and also spoke at the Kazakh-Turkish business forum, the press service reports.
Today, the governments of the two countries are working to systematically ensure a stable trade volume of at least $10 billion. During the year, the volume of freight transportation by rail and road between Kazakhstan and Turkey increased by 40%.
The parties outlined the prospects for a threefold increase in the volume of cargo transportation within the framework of developing the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor.
According to the press release, there are about 100 joint Kazakh-Turkish investment projects worth about $3.8 billion. Following the results of the business forum, 10 commercial documents in the field of investment cooperation totaling over $180 million were signed in the presence of the heads of delegations of Kazakhstan and Turkey. Among them are a memorandum on the export of finished products, agreements on the construction of a logistics hub, an agreement on the exchange of best practices in the field of seed production, as well as prospects for the supply of seeds and other projects.
