Katrina Roberts Honored with MNZM for Contributions to Dairy Industry

Katrina Roberts, a veterinarian based in Waikato, has been recognized for her extensive contributions to the dairy industry in New Zealand. Originally from Australia, Roberts moved to New Zealand in 2002 as a veterinary student and has since established a notable career in the region. This month, she was honored as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) in the King's Birthday Honours List for her services to the dairy industry and community.

Roberts began her career in New Zealand with a practical placement at a local veterinary club in Waikato, which later led to a job offer from Anexa Vets, where she continues to work. Her involvement in the dairy sector spans various projects, including contributions to DairyNZ programs such as Feedright, Healthy Hoof, and the redevelopment of the national herd fertility resource, the InCalf programme.

Beyond her veterinary work, Roberts has served as a farm advisor for Anexa and Headlands (part of the Intelact Group) for the past 15 years. Her dedication to the industry was previously recognized in 2024 when she was named the Fonterra Dairy Woman of the Year.

Roberts' passion for agriculture is rooted in her upbringing on sheep and pig farms in Australia. She expresses a strong commitment to working alongside farmers, emphasizing the importance of veterinary contributions not only at the cow and herd level but also within the farm team. Roberts believes in the potential for continuous improvement in the agricultural sector, reflecting a positive outlook on its future in New Zealand.

As Roberts continues her work in the dairy industry, her recognition as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit highlights the impact of her contributions to the farming community and her role in advancing agricultural practices in the region.
