To enhance customer value, KMF will now include an extra 50ml in each 500ml and one-litre milk packet, attributing this addition to the current harvest cycle which has increased milk storage across all district unions.
KMF defends the price hike by highlighting that its revised prices remain competitive compared to other co-operatives and milk brands in major states across India. This follows a previous price increase in July 2023, when the Karnataka government permitted KMF to raise prices by ₹3 per litre, despite the federation's request for ₹5.
Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah previously justified these adjustments by noting that the revised prices still undercut those observed in other states. However, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government for the latest hike.
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, R. Ashoka, expressed concern for the financial strain on the poor and middle class, characterizing the hike as ill-timed given current economic pressures. State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra condemned the government's actions, vowing continued opposition until what he termed an "anti-people government" is removed from power.
Current prices for Nandini milk varieties are as follows:
- Blue packet milk (Toned milk): ₹42 to ₹44 per litre.
- Blue packet (Homogenized toned milk): ₹43 to ₹45 per litre.
